EDITH

Privacy notice

Privacy, in plain language.

This notice explains the private EDITH household application and this public information website. Last updated 20 October 2026.

Who operates EDITH

Tom Griffiths operates EDITH solely for himself and invited household users. EDITH is not offered for public registration. Household users can contact the operator directly through their existing private household contact channels for access, privacy or deletion questions.

Information EDITH handles

EDITH handles account and sign-in details, household tasks, shopping, notes, documents, plans and activity records entered into it. When you connect a service, EDITH also processes the information needed for the services and actions you enable.

OAuth authorisation tokens and connection credentials are used to access linked services. Connecting an account does not share its credentials with other household members.

How the information is used

Connected information is used to provide EDITH’s household features: displaying and finding information, selected synchronisation, preparing requested changes and carrying out authorised actions. EDITH’s application does not sell connected-account content, serve advertising profiles from it or train its own machine-learning models on it.

Google information is used for the user-facing features you request, subject to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Private and shared access

EDITH distinguishes personal records from records shared with active household members. Choose sharing deliberately. Provider-side sharing is separate: changing EDITH visibility does not by itself prove that an external copy has been removed. Review any pending external-removal or synchronisation warning.

Storage, history and deletion

The household application and its local database are hosted on the household’s Raspberry Pi. Data returned by connected providers may be held locally as records, selected mirrors, cached content or action history. Provider originals remain with their providers unless a supported action changes them.

Calendar browsing uses a default rolling window of one year in the past and two years in the future. This is a retrieval window, not a retention period, and it does not apply universally to email, contacts, tasks or files. Imported calendar records are not automatically deleted simply because they fall outside that window. This window also does not change how long Google, Microsoft or other providers retain their original information.

There is no single automatic deletion period for every kind of record. Local records, recoverable items, activity history, diagnostics and any retained backup copies can have different lifetimes. Deleting an item or disconnecting a service is not a promise that all historical or backup copies disappear immediately. Contact the operator to review and remove information that should no longer be retained, including relevant retained copies.

Restrict access to the device and recovery material. This notice does not claim that all local data is encrypted or that an external backup is currently configured.

ChatGPT and other service providers

If you use EDITH through ChatGPT, the information returned by the requested tools is transmitted to ChatGPT to answer you and support the conversation. You should only request content you intend to process there. OpenAI’s terms, privacy policy and your account’s data controls also apply. This is separate from storage in EDITH.

EDITH also contains an optional independent AI adapter. No independent AI connection was listed in the live connections reviewed on 20 October 2026. If one is enabled later, review its provider and settings before sending selected context.

Google, Microsoft and other connected services receive the requests necessary to perform their respective features. Cloudflare provides remote access infrastructure. This public information site is hosted online separately from the Pi; its hosting infrastructure processes network requests and may maintain operational logs.

Your choices

You can review enabled services and selected collections in EDITH’s Connections settings. Disabling a service stops its use through that connection; it does not automatically erase existing records. Local disconnection and revoking provider consent are separate actions. Revoke Google authorisation at Google Account connections; use the corresponding Microsoft account controls for Microsoft access. Revocation prevents future authorised access but does not automatically delete previously stored information.

Ask the operator about viewing, correcting or removing locally stored information or closing an EDITH account. No household data needs to be sent through this public website to make that request.

This public website

These information pages have no contact form, account system, analytics script, advertising script or connection to the EDITH database. The pages do not request Google permissions or handle OAuth callbacks. Following “Open EDITH” takes you to the separate protected application.
